The Mustang is a hardy, free-roaming horse loved for it’s beauty, speed, independence and grace. In 1971, a federal law was passed that banned the capturing, harming or killing of Mustangs roaming freely on public land. As a symbol of the American West, the Mustang population (found predominantly in Nevada) is protected and managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
